Key and Tempo

Tap the C maj · 120 button (or whatever key is displayed) to open the picker:

• Choose the root (C, D♭, D…) and mode (maj / min)
• Adjust the tempo in BPM using the arrows or by typing directly
• Select the instrument: Piano, Guitare, Orgue, Cordes or Synth

Changing the key automatically transposes all chords already placed in the grid.

Song Title

The text field in the header lets you name your song.

The Grid

The grid is organized into sections (Intro, Verse, Chorus…) each containing lines of chords. Tap the more_vert button on a section or line to add, copy or delete. The section name can be changed via the dropdown.

Each cell represents a chord. Tap an empty cell to select it, then pick a chord from the selection panel and tap add to place it.

Tap a filled cell to select it — a more_vert button appears. Tap it to open the context menu:

• close — Delete the chord
• / — Merge the cell with an adjacent one
• — Divide a wide cell into two

Drag the more_vert button of a chord, line or section to reorder by drag and drop.

Choosing a Chord

The selection panel has three modes:

• Key — The diatonic chords of the current key. The simplest starting point.
• Custom — Build any chord: choose the root, accidental (♭/♯), quality (maj/min) and extension (7, maj7, dim).
• Suggested — Select a chord in the grid, then filter by intention (Resolution, Tension, Melancholy, Surprise, Softness) to get musically coherent suggestions.

Playback

The play_arrow Play button starts or resumes playback from where it was paused. Press again to pause pause. The skip_previous Restart button restarts playback from the beginning. Enable repeat Loop to repeat continuously. Each chord plays for its relative duration in the grid.

Lyrics

The lyrics Lyrics button, between the key and the song title, opens a full-screen view where you can type your song's text. Enable abc Syllable mode to automatically count the syllables on each line of text.

Save and Open

Create an account or sign in via the menu button to:

• New to start a new song
• Save your progression and come back to it later
• Save as to create a copy under a new name
• Open an existing progression
• Browse Jack Fortin's songs for inspiration

Export

• piano MIDI Export — Download your progression as a MIDI file to import into your DAW (GarageBand, Logic, Ableton…)
• picture_as_pdf PDF Export — Generate a printable chord sheet
